Matthew 22:15-22: Jesus faced a yes or no trap from Pharisees and Herodians, much like a courtroom scene where the question is designed to corner rather than seek truth. These unlikely allies tried to force Jesus into political trouble over the hated Imperial Tax, a symbol of Roman oppression and religious compromise. Their hypocrisy revealed the complexity of human life, echoed ethical dilemmas around money and power. Jesus’ answer exposed their complicity and invited a higher purpose to give God what bears God’s image.
