1 Peter 1:3-9, 17-25: In these passages, Peter invites believers to anchor their identity and daily conduct in the reality of what God has already done for them in Christ. Because God has given them a new birth into a living hope and an imperishable inheritance through Jesus’ resurrection, they can face present trials with joy, knowing that their faith is being refined and will result in salvation. This secure hope is not a reason for casual living but for reverent, holy conduct: since they were ransomed at the infinite cost of Christ’s blood, they are to live in fear of the Father who judges impartially, purifying themselves through obedience and loving one another deeply. Their new life comes from God’s enduring word, which stands forever, so their confidence, conduct, and community are all shaped by the eternal reality of redemption rather than the temporary pressures of a fading world.
