Matthew 21:33-46: Jesus’ parable challenges the common belief that his temple encounter was about defeating evil or claiming victory. People misunderstood his entry, expecting a heroic conqueror like Moses or Joshua. Instead, Jesus taught that God’s true power is relational. In the parable, the landowner sends servants not to punish but to build relationship, revealing God’s desire to connect with humanity. The tenants’ violence reflects how people destroy God given relationships when fixed in their own views. Jesus reminds us we are tenants, not owners, called to bear fruit through humility and service. We as God’s tenants are allowed to use God’s authority and power for changing ourselves and others.
